Rural Maryland Council

Addressing the Needs of Communities

The Rural Maryland Council (RMC) brings together citizens, community-based organizations, federal, state, county and municipal government officials as well as representatives of the for-profit and nonprofit sectors to collectively address the needs of Rural Maryland communities.

What the Grant Provides

Rural Maryland Council provides grants directly to local governments, non-profits, and community organizations to support targeted investments in important economic and community development programs and promote regional and intergovernmental cooperation through the Rural Maryland Prosperity Investment Fund (RMPIF).

Tri County Council for Western Maryland is also a recipient of RMPIF Grant Funding, which is used by our agency to support regional work. Currently, this work includes establishing a Western Maryland Entrepreneurial Ecosystem; supporting an EPA Brownfields Community Assessment Grant application for the 3-county region; serving on the Western Maryland Long Term Recovery Committee (formed following the Georges Creek flooding in May 2025), and active involvement with the Maryland Tech Council – Rural Tech Network in Western Maryland.

This grant also supports staff and training for our various small business lending programs which offer a Technical Assistance Program to our current loan clients.

What They’re Saying:

Spectrum Designs, LLC

“My dream of owning an interior design business would not have been possible without the help and guidance of Tri-County Council. My experience was extremely positive and for that, I am eternally grateful.

I would recommend TCC to anyone interested in pursuing a business purchase.”
